What are your biggest frustrations when designing lighting controls?
My name is David Moore and I am a Lighting Controls Specialist in Indianapolis, Indiana. Through my line of work, I have the privilege of working with specifying engineers and other building design professionals on a daily basis, assisting with the layout and design of the lighting controls on their commercial projects. These projects can sometimes become complex and I find every specifier faces many of the same challenges when going through the process. Not only do you have to meet energy code and keep the budget low, you’re trying to make sure the owner is happy with the end result in a time when expectations have never been higher!
I wanted to use the knowledge I have gained to help a wider audience, so I created LightingControlsDesign.com as a go-to resource for your lighting control design needs. My intent is to give you direct, actionable advice from a boots-on-the-ground perspective that you can use in the project you are working on today.
My primary focus is on the commercial market, not residential. I am also focused on architectural lighting and energy management, specifically as it relates to meeting building energy code; I don’t delve too much into theatrical controls. There are many websites that cover that subject well and I wouldn’t consider myself an expert in the field.
Ultimately, I want to help YOU get through your initial design faster, have fewer issues during construction administration, and end up with a more satisfied owner. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, and if there is a specific topic you would like to learn about, I would love to know!
